Before joining Bender, Shannon had been immersed in manufacturing since the age of 16. In her previous role, she served as a team lead at Viant Medical for an impressive 22 years. Viant Medical specializes in small diameter metal tubing for medical and aerospace applications, with Shannon contributing to projects that involved crafting materials resilient enough to withstand atmospheric pressure on the exterior of spaceships. Over the years, she climbed the professional ladder, acquiring comprehensive knowledge of the entire manufacturing process.
Currently at Bender, Shannon is responsible for testing all finished products to ensure proper functionality and product safety. Beyond her primary role, she actively engages in supporting her colleagues during her downtime, showcasing a proactive approach to teamwork. Shannon has a strong passion for learning new things and cherishes the variety her job offers, allowing her to work across different departments and gain insights into the overall functioning of the business.
One of the aspects Shannon values most about her job is the opportunity to ensure product safety. Recognizing the potential consequences if products fail to function correctly, she takes pride in her role in preventing injuries or fatalities. Her responsibilities vary each day, from inspecting different panels and transformers to working on the same products on occasion. She meticulously examines all products, whether imported from the company's headquarters in Germany or manufactured locally in the Exton office. Additionally, Shannon has acquired the skill of programming circuit boards originating from Germany.
Shannon finds great satisfaction in her employment at Bender due to the welcoming and appreciative atmosphere cultivated by her colleagues. In her personal life, Shannon has been in a long-standing relationship with her husband since the age of 16. They share three daughters – Alexis (26), Breanna (24), and Ciara (16). Recently, she received the exciting news that her oldest daughter is expecting, making her soon-to-be a grandma. Prior to the COVID era, Shannon enjoyed playing roller derby, adopting the moniker "Ginger Neck Snap." During her leisure time, she relishes moments spent with family and friends, partaking in activities like bonfires, game nights, and movie-watching. Chincoteague, Virginia, holds a special place in her heart for vacationing due to its small hometown feel.
